Shifting from Legacy GTP-U to Stateless SRv6 MUP

📡 Paradigm Shift in Mobile Cores: Accelerating the 5G Data Plane via Stateless SRv6

Traditional mobile networks run entirely on GTP-U (GPRS Tunneling Protocol User Plane) to route mobile subscriber data between cell towers and the central core network.

❌ The Legacy Failure: GTP-U creates deep encapsulation layers that add heavy packet overhead, hide the true packet details from your transport switches, and force your core equipment to process traffic slowly in software, creating an absolute latency bottleneck.

🚀 The Stateless Solution: SRv6 Mobile User Plane (MUP) entirely replaces GTP-U tunnels by encoding the subscriber’s session details directly into standard, compressed 16-bit uSID packet headers. This strips away encapsulation complexity and allows standard network switches to route mobile data at wire speeds, completely eliminating data plane bottlenecks.
